Bed Bug Control
Sleep Easy; Call the Team at Spidexx Pest Control
Bed bugs are tiny, brownish-red colored beetle-like creatures that can have a huge impact on your health and your comfort. While they may get no larger than approximately the size of an apple seed, the amount of trouble they can cause is certainly no small matter. Bed bugs get their name from their affinity for making their home in beds, as beds provide them with a frequent abundance of their preferred meal: human blood. They leave behind itchy and obnoxious welts that are often mistaken for acne or bedsores, and for that reason many people don’t actually realize they have this problem until it gets completely out of hand.
At Spidexx Pest Control, we understand that bed bugs can be a tremendously frustrating problem, and we aim to take the stress out of resolving it. What You Need to Know About Bed Bugs
Bed bugs are often thought of as a sign that a home is dirty or unsanitary, but that’s actually not the case. Because bed bugs feed on blood, they actually are not attracted to dirty areas like roaches, flies, and plenty of other pests are. For this reason, bed bugs can be found virtually anywhere, no matter how often it is cleaned. And when you consider that bed bugs can get into your home on clothing, luggage, or even in the fur of a pet, they’re more likely than you might think.
While we sleep, bed bugs crawl out, latch on to exposed skin almost anywhere on our bodies, and feed for anywhere from three to ten minutes before crawling off. They will do this several times throughout their lives, including before each of the five times they will shed their skin as they mature. Once mature, a single adult female can lay hundreds of eggs, and multiple generations of bugs can emerge over the course of a single year.
Our Comprehensive Bed Bug Treatment Plan
At Spidexx Pest Control, we proudly offer a comprehensive three-step bed bug control solution designed to target and eliminate your issue.
Step 1: Formulate a Plan
Your treatment begins with a visual inspection of your property to look for signs of bed bugs or even bed bugs themselves. Once we locate where the bugs are in your home, we can then develop a specifically-tailored plan for treating your home. Every case is different, so we work with you to create an ideal plan that will ensure success and long-term freedom from bed bugs.
Step 2: Prepare Affected Areas
Once we have a plan in place and your treatment scheduled, you will need to prepare your home for your treatment. Collect all paper, clutter, and belongings, and move them to a quarantined area to protect them. This can be an unaffected bedroom or even to your garage. You’ll also want to take this time to sanitize your bed linens, clothing, and curtains by washing them in high temperature water. This kills the eggs that have been laid in folds and pockets. Finally, you will want to encase your mattress and box spring.
Step 3: Perform Treatment
Our treatments involve applying a chemical product to your home that is specifically designed to eradicate bed bugs. Our treatment product has some of the best success and efficacy ratings of any option available on the market today. We also treat with a product known as an insect growth regulator, or IGR. This product affects development stages and prevents bed bugs from maturing into adults as well as from reproducing in the adult phase. Treatment areas may include carpeted areas, bed frames, end tables, dressers, chests, base boards, luggage, and any additional furniture in an impacted area.
Once treatment is complete and applied products are dry, you may sleep in and inhabit treated rooms. Continue to vacuum these rooms every other day until your problem has disappeared for good. This may take anywhere from a few days to as long as a few weeks. After about three or four weeks have passed, you may then return clothes to these treated rooms.
