Pests

  • Q:How are bed bugs, cockroaches, and fleas brought into my home?

A: Bed bugs and fleas are parasitic pests that are carried into homes by a host. Bed bugs usually travel on humans, whereas fleas are usually brought in through animals. Cockroaches are also brought into homes from a host, but they are not parasitic and do not feed on a host.

  • Q:How to get rid of bed bugs permanently?

A:In order to get rid of bed bugs, you will need to have the entire building treated by a licensed pest control professional, particularly in sleeping areas. Once a full bed bug extermination service has been performed, they will only return if they are brought back into the home.

  • Q:Why do i have ants in my kitchen every year?

A:Ants are a highly social and intelligent species of insects that are often found in kitchens and bathrooms. When you have ants in your kitchen, it usually means 1 of 2 things: There is an exterior ant colony close to your home and worker ants are coming indoors to search for food. You have a satellite colony inside of your home. A satellite colony is an offshoot colony that moves indoors, but it is still connected with a larger colony outside.

  • Q:Could dangerous spiders be inside my home?

A:Here in the Midwest, dangerous spiders aren’t as common, but can still be found. Brown Recluse spiders can be found in both Iowa, Nebraska, and Wisconsin, but aren’t as commonly found in Minnesota. However, recluses can be transported and found living in Minnesota in the warmer months. Additionally, Black Widow spiders can be found throughout all of the Midwest, but the Red Widow spider is more common in Minnesota.

  • Q:Where did all the stink bugs come from?

A:Stink bugs are an invasive species from Asia that was first found in the United States in the late 1990s. They are known for their unpleasant smell they release as a defense mechanism. The smell is often compared to rotten cilantro. Stink bugs do not bite. They reproduce very quickly due to their lack of natural predators, making it easy for them to infest your home or business.

Safety

  • Q:Are the treatments safe for my children and pets?

A:Yes, all of our treatments are safe for children, pets, and the elderly. We use products that are rated for usage in schools, hospitals, daycares, and kennels.

  • Q:How can I find out what products are used in and around my home?

A:After every treatment, you will receive a summary of the treatments performed, including products used, volume of product, and where they were applied. We’re happy to email you MSDS and safety sheets for all products used in your home.

  • Q:Do I have to leave my home for the treatment to be performed?

A: Aside from our flea extermination service, you don’t need to leave the home while we perform services. It's best to keep animals and small children away from treated areas to allow time for the products to dry. Once the products dry there is no transfer effect.

  • Q:How will Spidexx ensure safety and trust coming into my home?

A:We understand how important maintaining safety is in your home, and the amount of trust it requires to allow a stranger into it. All of our service professionals undergo background checks, as well as training on how to respect and protect your home. We strive to keep the same technician coming to your home, so you can build a relationship and trust together. Lastly, we will send you a post-service summary, which will explain exactly where, what, and when your home was treated.

SERVICE

  • Q:Can I get rid of pests on my own?

A:While there are many types of at-home, pest treatment methods, we always recommend that you hire a professional pest exterminator to treat your home or business. Pesticides can be dangerous if applied incorrectly. All of our technicians have undergone state licensing requirements and extensive safety training.

  • Q:Do I need to be home for the treatment to be performed?

A:Whether you need to be home or not depends on if the interior of the home needs to be treated. For our general pest maintenance program, we recommend interior service on the initial treatment and during the winter service. Otherwise, interior is only suggested as needed. You do not need to be home as long as we’re continuously maintaining a barrier treatment around your home.

  • Q:How quickly will I notice the results of the pest control treatment?

A:For most treatments, you won’t see the full effect until 10-14 days after it has been performed. Some pests like wasps and clover mites will be shorter like 3-7 days.

  • Q:Why do I need on-going service?

A:Most common pest problems like spiders, ants, and wasps are recommended to treat quarterly throughout the year. The exterior barrier product is only designed to remain in place for about 3 months. Once the product has worn off, pests will no longer be deterred from entering the home. Additionally, with our on-going maintenance program you have unlimited spot treatments if any additional pest activity still continues.

GUARANTEE

  • Q:How long is my guarantee?

A:The timeframe of your guarantee does vary from service-to-service. For example, our annual maintenance program includes a 365 day guarantee. We also offer one time treatment options with a 30-day guarantee. When you call to set up your service, we will provide service specific guarantee information.

  • Q:What happens if I still have pest problems after your services?

A:If you still have pest problems between regular maintenance visits, you can utilize a free emergency treatment at any time.

  • Q:How much does it cost to have you come back?

A: If you’re within your guarantee window (30 day, 365 day, etc.), then any additional services are FREE OF CHARGE!

SCHEDULING

  • Q:How do I know Spidexx is coming?

A:We will send you an email to schedule at least 2 days prior to service. If you miss our email, we will still treat the exterior and can return for the interior service at any time.

  • Q:What do I do if my scheduling service window doesn’t work with my schedule?

A:We’re happy to adjust your scheduled service time and date. Please call our office to reschedule.

  • Q:What happens if I miss my service professional and need interior service?

A:If you miss the service professional at your home, and would still like interior service, contact us online or give us a call to schedule the interior service. We will come back to provide interior service at no extra cost to you.

  • Q:Can I schedule online?

A:Currently, we don’t offer online scheduling options. We are a small business and hope to offer this in the near future. You can contact us online or call our office to schedule.
